Current Activities and Projects
Kevin Regimbal is currently serving as Acting Associate Director for Enabling Technologies. In this role, he is responsible for the oversight of staff and projects in High Performance Computing and Network Services and the Instrument Development Laboratory.
His responsibilities include line management of approximately 50 engineers and IT professionals, oversight for day-to-day operations of the EMSL computing system and Supercomputer center, and project management activities.
Projects
1) Project manager and lead for the acquisition of the HPCS-3 generation of supercomputer for the EMSL
2) Participant in the Energy Smart Data Center (ESDC) project to apply advanced power management, power distribution and cooling technology to high-performance computing systems.
3) Executive Secretary for PNNL's Data Intensive Computing Initiative. Data-intensive computing is managing, analyzing, and understanding data at volumes and rates that push the frontiers of current technologies.
Past Experience
From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Regimbal managed a team of UNIX and Windows System engineers for Amazon.com, was responsible for operational support and engineering, and played a major role in the successful migration of Amazon.com's datacenter from Seattle to an east coast location. From 1997 to 2000 he worked in several roles for AT&T Wireless, including managing the team that delivered AT&T Wireless' first eCommerce infrastructure and managing the Enterprise Computing Architecture team.
