Research Interests
Nancy G. Isern's current research interests include:
- Structural refinement of DNA oligomers using XPLOR, Amber and a suite of spectral backcalculation programs
- Assignment of spectra using Felix
- Purification of spin-labeled DNA oligomers for use in structural refinement studies
Past Experience
Ms. Isern worked as a Registered Dietitian at Oswego Hospital in Oswego, New York before returning to graduate school to obtain a degree in Chemistry. She has also worked for Continental Oil Co. as an analytical chemist.
Education
Ms. Isern received her B.A in Biology from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN in 1974. She obtained an M.S. in Human Nutrition in 1987 from the University of Missouri--Columbia, with thesis work describing the influence of dietary cholesterol on serum insulin levels as quantitated by radioimmunoassy. She received her Master's degree in Bioinorganic Chemistry in 1996, with thesis work centering on characterization of photolytically active vanadate solutions using NMR spectroscopy.
