Research Interests
Dr. Minard's dissertation focussed on the development of actively shielded gradient coils and their use in NMR experiments designed for quantifying complex fluid transport in porous media and biological tissues. After graduation, he accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) where he developed in vivo imaging methods at 11.7 Tesla - specifically for following tumor growth kinetics in live mice used for Toxicology studies. In 1997, Kevin was hired by PNNL where he currently works as a senior research scientist. Kevin's recent work has focussed on developing high-field NMR microscopy as a biomedical research tool for studying large single cells and small cell agglomerates in health and disease. As part of this effort, he is currently working on a combined microscope that allows live cell cultures to be studied simultaneously with both magnetic resonance and optical microscopy.
