Current Activities and Projects
Development of in-vivo metabolomics technologies (instrumentation and methods) based upon nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, imaging and spectroscopic imaging. Application of these technologies to the characterization of microbiological biofilms and suspended cell systems.
Applied NMR spectroscopy and imaging of synthetic materials, including hydrogen (PEM) fuel cells.
Research Interests
Basic and applied NMR (imaging, spectroscopy, microscopy, diffusion, flow)
and combined optical/NMR techniques for the characterization of biological and material samples.
Past Experience
Development of combined optical-and-magnetic resonance microscopy for biological studies;
NMR (imaging and flow) techniques development for advanced material studies;
Porous material studies.
Education
BS, Chemistry/Mathematics, Frostburg State University, 1979
PhD, Physical Chemistry, University of South Carolina, 1985
Postdoctoral Fellowship, Lovelace Medical Foundation, Albuquerque, NM, 1986-1989
