Current Activities and Projects
Mr. Arey is a Technologist in EMSL's Interfacial and Nanoscale Science Facility, operated by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Since 1983, he has specialized in the material science field in radiation effects. He is experienced in the application of scanning electron microscopy and auger electron spectroscopy techniques. Mr. Arey has been actively involved in variety of materials research programs and has authored or co-authored more than 25 publications in peer-reviewed journals on topics in materials science, thin films, surfaces and interfaces, and metal corrosion.
Research Interests
Mr. Arey is an analytical electron microscopist experienced in the use of scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy capabilities located at EMSL. He is currently active with a large number of EMSL user collaborations involving many different universities and other national laboratory staff. He has considerable experience using surface analysis methods to examine a wide variety of basic and industrial problems. He currently manages EMSL's Scanning Electron Microscope Laboratory and Focus Ion Beam/Scanning Electron Microscope (FIB/SEM).
