Research Interests

High resolution laser ionization spectroscopy applied to fundamental studies and ultra-trace isotopic analysis. Examples of fundamental studies are the precision determination of ionization potentials (lithium, samarium, gadolinium) and ultra-precise spectroscopy of isotope shifts in lithium two-photon transitions in support of advanced theoretical calculations and studies of exotic nuclides far from stability. Trace analysis interests are currently centered on using isotope selective triple-resonance autoionization for 'fingerprinting' the isotopic composition of uranium.

Education

B.S. Chemistry, Washington State University (1974)
M.S. Chemistry, Washington State University (1975)
Ph.D. Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Germany (1997)
